2022-04-04-Sun-N-Fun-0TX1-Pecan-Plantation: The goal was to fly commercial airlines from Denver to Dallas Love (KDAL), spend a day coming and going with Carl Keil at his FABULOUS house and hangar at 0TX1="Pecan Plantation", which is, of course, a "fly and drive" community, but much more, with 2 golf courses, 2 airports, several club houses... an entire gated community on 4000 acres of a pecan plantation (read forest!!!): https://www.pecanplantation.com/ ... well, the best laid plans of mice and men... My Sunday 04/03/22 flight on Southwest was cancelled, so I scrambled to get the same flight 24 hours later on Monday. That worked! Our plan was to fly 0TX1 to Sun-N-Fun at Lakeland (KLAL) on Tuesday... but there was a severe storm front between here and there... put it off for a day... Wednesday there was another severe storm front with tornados, so put it off for another day... On Thursday, the weather was good enough, but it did not make sense to do all that travel for 2 partial days at SnF, because we had seaplane flights scheduled Thursday and Friday mornings, and planned to fly back to Pecan on Saturday so that Jer/ could fly commercial back to Denver. So, Carl and Jer/ spent the week together at Pecan doing things around there... like working on his airplane engine rebuild, EAA meeting, viewing the incredible homes and hangars, roads and taxiways at Pecan. I found it a very worthwhile week... even if I didn't get to go to SnF this year. Oshkosh for Sure!!! 04/10/22
